He has a particular interest in the management of fibroids and has introduced laparoscopic myomectomy (key hole surgery to remove fibroids from the womb) at St Thomas’ Hospital. He also peforms this operation at London Bridge Hospital where a brand new theatre suite has been opened to carry out laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.

Dr Kunde specialises in the treatment of endometriosis and runs a dedicated clinic for patients suffering from endometriosis. Dr Kunde has succesffuly treated many patients with pelvic endometriosis.

Heavy periods is a common problem that women may experience during their reproductive years. Dr Kunde offers a one stop clinic for the diagnosis of the underlying cause of heavy periods so that more serious conditions can be excluded immediately. Majority of the patients can be treated with medications but some patients need surgery.


Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (Frequently Asked Questions About Laparoscopic Hysterectomy)

There are some gynaecological conditions which are best treated by a hysterecotmy when medical treatment fails or when medical treatment is not suitable. Most of the hysterectomies can now be done using key hole surgery which has many advantages. Dr Kunde has the expertise to perform hysterectomies by key hole technique which has benefited hundreds of women in his NHS as well as private practice. He performs both Total and Subtotal laparoscopic hysterectomies.


Ovarian Cysts

Majority of the ovarian cysts are harmless and some resolve spontaneously. Mr Kunde performs a careful assessment of the nature of the cyst by ultrasound scan and blood tests before deciding about the type of treatment. Some cysts can be managed without any surgery and the size can be monitored by periodic ultrasound scans. When surgery is required, majority of the ovarian cysts can be removed by laparoscopic surgery.



Pelvic pain

Chronic pelvic pain is a debilitating condition which can be caused by underlying gynaecological and non gynaecological conditions. Mr Kunde works closely with the pain management team and psychologists to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patients with pelvic pain.


Minimal access surgery

Mr Kunde performs most of the gynaecological operations using key hole surgical techniques. Thus patients with heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis and ovarian cysts who need surgical treatment can benefit from this approach. Mr Kunde is the lead consultant for advanced laparoscopic surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital. He is also a Royal college trainer in advanced gynaecological endoscopic surgery.


Prolapse and Incontinence

Uterovaginal prolapse and urinary symptoms are common among elderly women but can also affect younger women in the reproductive age group. Uterovaginal prolapse causes a dragging feeling in the vagina or can present with a lump in the vagina. It is often associated with urinary incontinence but can also present without any urinary symptoms. Dr Kunde offers advice and treatment for these conditions.


Menopause and HRT

Hormone Replacement therapy (HRT) is recommended to women during and after the menopause(end of menstruation).  There are basically two types, one that contains oestrogen for women who have had a hysterectomy and one with oestrogen and progesterone for women with a uterus.  Dr Kunde would be happy to discuss your individual needs.  HRT can be administered as a tablet, patch, implant or skin gel as appropriate.
