Dr Deborah Bruce is a highly experienced consultant gynaecologist, nationally recognised menopause specialist, and senior medical educator with over 30 years’ experience across clinical practice, research, leadership, and undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
Dr Bruce leads the Menopause unit at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital which provides tertiary level services in Menopause. Dr Bruce has developed rapid-access menopause clinics for NHS staff, specialist services for POI, oncology and complex HRT, and regional GP guidelines, significantly improving access and quality of care. She is a BMS-accredited menopause specialist and trainer and an ARCP assessor and RCOG MRCOG Part 3 examiner.
Her research focuses on menopause, POI, women’s health services, and medical education. Dr Bruce has an extensive publication record including clinical trials, audits, reviews, textbook chapters, and recent accepted papers in Medical Teacher and Post Reproductive Health.
Dr Bruce has special expertise in following fields;
Hormonal disturbances: Menopause (including early and Premature ovarian insufficiency), Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Premenstrual Syndrome
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
Menstrual Disorders: Amenorrhea (absent periods), dysmenorrhea (painful periods), heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), and abnormal uterine bleeding.
Subfertility - initial assessment
Cervical Conditions: Cervical screening, and cervical polyps.
Vulvar/Vaginal Conditions: Atrophic Vaginitis, lichen sclerosus, and vulvodynia.
